Flip Flop Cake

Occasionally I'm hired to bake pies, or bread, or scones. And cakes. Most grocery-store varieties just don't cut it.

I love when I'm given free rein over a project, too; it seems to be when I do my best work. The only instructions I was given for this cake were the names, and "maybe something poolside, or beach-y. You know, summery!"

When Lori arrived this morning to pick her cake up she looked bruised and beaten. She fell down the deck steps yesterday and really injured herself. Because she was wearing flip flops, and her husband had just hosed the deck off, down she went. And then I showed her the cake.

FLIP FLOPS!

She was half-afraid of the heckling she was going to take when she carried this baby into the party, and who can blame her? I say those who tease get no cake!

What a fantastic cake, you are so clever!

Oh the poor lady, thongs (as we call them in Australia) and water do not mix.

Tracy, you inspire me! I have been working on getting healthy since March. Down 22 pounds, but have yet to start exercising more than just doing my house and yardwork each day. Tomorrow's the day I lace up the walking shoes! At some point will you share an update of your weight loss with us? ~Kelly in MN
