Change of Seasons

It's not only a difference in the air temperature that's signaling the fact that changes are ahead. The days are noticeably shorter, the light is noticeable lower. The grass is drier, the leaves are starting to turn colors, and there are grasshoppers everywhere I look. My favorite season is upon us.

As of this week, three of my four children are taking college classes, and my baby started her freshman year of high school. Having only one student at home is very different from the days to which I'd grown accustomed. It's been a good first week of school. We've run a race, enjoyed a wonderful field trip, made and delivered four meals for friends who have had a baby or have recently had surgery, and had a girls' outing.

The days are flying by like the leaves swirling in the autumn winds. This is the part of fall that I don't enjoy. It goes by all too quickly. I want to savor the smells, the colors, the crisp evenings, and the beautiful sunsets. It would be just fine with me if life slowed a bit and let me hold on to these precious moments. My mind and body feel like I should still be in the summer of my life, but my circumstances tell me differently. I'm not sure I'm ready for this.

Yes! I love this season best, and it does tend to fly by! I find I must take time deliberately, to savor these moments both in my life and of this season!

Love you friend

I love the changed of seasons, but agree that our autumn is far too short.

With the new baby coming I'm looking ahead to January for the first time in my life with great anticipation.

I do love the season of Fall. Warm apple pies, the smell of bread baking and the beautiful landscape is so exciting...
Have a great Labor Day Weekend.

oh! There was a grasshopper on the blanket today when I want to take down the washing! It's been such lovely lovely cool weather, and then today we got a blazing hot one, good enough to return to the pool. But it felt odd.

Changing seasons is tough for me. I love autumn, but the autumn of my life is a bit harder to face. And the family leaving the nest has been tough too....

I'm in a very different season of my life, but I, too, feel that days are passing so quickly. Summer is my favorite season, and I wish I could hold on to it, but as you said the days are getting shorter and the nights cooler, and there's no denying autumn will soon be upon us!
