The Last Days of Winter

These last days of winter are feeling more and more like spring, and I'm enjoying each and every minute I can among my piles of fabric. Soon the earth will be calling to be worked up for the garden, and the long season of growing and preserving will be upon me once more, taking every waking moment and even stealing time that I should be sleeping to get the jobs done.

I'm appreciating the seasons so much more as I grow older, and I'm in no hurry to get the the next one. They each have their unique beauty and purpose, even the cold, dark days of winter. A slower pace, a time of reflecting, and more rest than summer. No, I haven't minded the cold and snow one little bit!

This weekend will be our second Farmer's Wife class. I'm very much looking forward to it, and unlike our last class, we got our cutting instruction ahead of time. Chester and I pulled out the Civil War reproductions and carefully made our selections. He purred approvingly as I fingered each fabric, auditioning them against others. My pieces are all cut and ready to go.

For everything there is a season,
and a time for every matter under heaven:

Chester appears to be a most excellent helper.

I wish I was as content in the winter season as you. If only I could just stay at home and not have to worry about driving in the weather.....then perhaps I would feel more like you do. The comfy cozy parts of the winter are precious.

I have enjoyed seeing your quilts this winter. I haven't had much time to sew this winter, though I have done some.

I am happy to see our yard again after being buried in 6 inches of snow most of the season. We will be starting some broccoli and lettuce seeds this weekend.

I love all the seasons too. Each one has a gift to impart!

I, like yourself, do not rush through the seasons. It takes too much energy. Instead, I live the day the way it comes. Either in good weather or bad, being content with the day is the only way I can live now.

I really enjoy reading your posts. Thank you so much for sharing...

Maria.
