On the Mantle

We've lived in this house for nearly  seven years, but this is the first year we've had a mantle. It's been decorated with fresh pine cut from the bottom boughs of our Fraser Fir. A small wooden Nativity, a Polish pottery  platter, and antique ball jars filled with epsom salts to look like snow topped with tea-lights complete the ensemble. Simple, and pretty.

That is gorgeous! I didn't do the jars this year...but now wish I had!

I soooo need a mantle....maybe next year I'll have one!

Love your use of the Ball Jars. I use mine to store beans, noodles, etc. on top of the frig but I'll have to remember this idea.

It looks beautiful Tracy.

We've only just gotten our tree put up...the two other things should probably come out today. Decorating the house for Christmas is not my favourite thing. In fact, the kids took charge this year and invited me to admire at the end. Perfect.

that's a great idea with the epsom salts! We have a huuuuuge bag. And I cut greens from my tree too, to decorate with :) Your mantel looks great.

Charming jar-candles. Another reason to love epsom salts!
