Cutting Celery

I had no idea that the cutting celery would over-winter when I forgot and left it in the raised bed last fall. What a nice surprise!

Very cool!

There are Amish farms around here that sell it all winter. I'm guessing they keep it going in greenhouses.

I am sure that this will sound stupid but what is cutting celery? Just ordinary celery or an herb? If it is not ordinary celery what is it used for?
Thanks...

Hi Faye! Your question isn't stupid at all. I'd never heard of cutting celery until this past summer. It is celery, and can be used in soups, stews, salads, etc. The stalks don't grow near as wide, so you'd never be able to stuff them with cream cheese or peanut butter. They do, however have a very concentrated flavor, and a little is all that is needed to give dishes a wonderful flavor.
