Pie in a Jar (Cutie Pies)

We had leftover pie crust dough from our Thanksgiving pumpkin pies, and I decided to use it up by making these.

Let me start by admitting that I did not come up with this idea. Nope. I still feel pretty clever for deciding to make them, though. Finally! I'd seen them on Our Best Bites over a year ago, and I've been planning on making them since.

The link above has a good tutorial, so I won't go into all of that. I didn't freeze mine. Well at least not all of them. I baked six for our family immediately, and stuck another 8 into the freezer for future use.

Abigail was a great helper. She meticulously made sure the crust was perfect in every jar.

I used the same filling I do in my regular-size pies, only I cut the apples much smaller.

Top crusts, ready to go!

Before baking....

and after.

They really are the cutest little things you've ever seen, and would be perfect for impressing company.

And they easily slide out if the jar if you wish to serve them that way, too.

  1. love the name of your blog!

your pies are so cute. I saw that recipe a while back but I bought the 4 ounce jars instead of the 8 ounce jars and have not yet made any. Yours look so delicious, maybe I will just make very tiny ones.

I was thinking as I looked at your photos "I wonder if they slide out of the jars?" Then you answered in the last paragraph! These are so cute, and I just may have to do them, soon!
