Around My Table

Autumn made the pies this year, and Mac carved the turkey because Verne's wrist is injured from his accident.

And just like every other day, our big meal was in the evening. It was nice to be able to sleep in a bit, and to prepare things at a leisurely pace. I don't quite understand why holiday meals have to be served early in the day.

We counted our blessings, and all agreed that we are thankful for one another. I'm particularly happy that we don't only say it once a year.

God is good!

  3. Indeed....God IS Good. All the time!

Your dinner looks great! I am so happy that you are able to celebrate.

We had a wonderful time at Georgia's on Thanksgiving day. She had us go around and tell of Thanksgiving memories and things we are thankful for. It brought many laughs and happy memories.

  4. For the first time ever, we had our dinner later in the day and I have to say that it was nice not to go nuts preparing everything. Stephen & I were even able to go hiking in the morning.

I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving!

  7. We do our meal traditionally around 2:00 pm. I guess my Mom and Grandma did it that way so that they only had to prepare food once that day, or something! I am always so full, I don't eat later in the evening anyway, although I may snack on chips and such if we are playing games!

So glad you had a wonderful family time. We think you are all pretty special!

  8. Looks like a good Thanksgiving. It's always a good day when the family is all together.

We tend to eat later on holidays, too. Lunch time is for relishing the relish tray (and sneaking deviled eggs)! Yes? ;o)

Enjoy your weekend. I'm sure you are all thrilled to have Mac home.

  9. we ate at 5pm and wanted to go for a walk then, but it was too rainy and damp. I too think it's odd to have holiday meals early in day (and usually during naptime!).

your table and family look lovely. happy (now belated) Thanksgiving!

  11. Happy Belated Thanksgiving! We tend to eat around 5pm on holidays ... it does allow for one to get *leisurely* ready :o)

Your dinner looks scrumptious and I agree that it's great to say those things ALL year, not just at special occasions!

By the way Tracy, do you remember the name of the FONT you used for the title Back to Basics on your blog? I've been trying to find out and can't so thanks in advance :o)

  12. @ Paula- we're drinking our usual holiday drink, cranberry juice poured over orange sherbet. It's delicious!

@ Dallas- The font is Billy Argel's. You can find it and use it for free on Picnik, and here: http://www.dafont.com/olho-de-boi.font
