What a Difference a Day Makes

Last Friday afternoon Autumn had the day off from her nanny position, and we walked through the park without a care in the world. Gallagher, the Standard Poodle she is raising for Pilot Dogs, enjoyed the ducks and the fresh air.

And then Saturday came, and with it, sad news in the mail. It won't be long until Gallagher returns to Columbus, Ohio, to continue his training. She isn't ready to say good-bye. I don't think he is either.

Ah, Tracy, I'm sorry for her pain. I know it's a necessary part of the program, but the parting has to be painful for the training family. Many hugs to Autumn. Take lots of pictures.

OH, NO!!!

He is such a great dog! No wonder she is going to miss him so much!

I was loving the first photo - her outfit is do darling...then the second photo broke my heart!

Give her a hug for me! We will be praying...

Oh Tracy, I bet it feels like it has come around all too soon!

I was like Mrs Rabe... full of joy to see such a gorgeous photo, and then the clincher... Gallagher has to leave soon.

I can't believe how big he is! My, they grow quickly don't they?!

The background in that photo is breathtaking. And Autumn looks so beautiful. I saw the joy gone out of her face in the second one so I pray the Lord give her the strength she needs to let go, without breaking her heart.

Perhaps taking on another little guide dog in the making will soothe it a bit?

Blessings to you all. Parting is such sweet sorrow, especially in this case. At least he is going to be doing a wonderful thing with his life.

I'm sorry Autumn! It would be hard to spend so much time training a dog and getting attached to it, just for it to leave.

friends of ours went through a similar program. the yellow lab went on for more training, only to not pass the final exam. the organization called our friends and asked if they'd like the dog for keeps. they did. and they all lived happily ever after.

on the flip side, hugs for autumn. (((hug)))

...ahhhh...as a dog lover...I hurt for her. You have raised a strong daughter....she will do good, it will break her heart...but she will most likely do it again ????....she has a servant's heart, or so it seems to me...
