I'd spent the morning in town running errands, visiting the farmer's market, etc. I arrived home to a message that my new babies had arrived at the post office. I quickly got back in the car and headed in to pick them up.
What adorable girls! We ordered from My Pet Chicken, and the chicks are gorgeous! We have 6 Rhode Island Reds, 4 Easter Eggers, and 2 Buff Orpingtons. We carefully checked each one for pasting up, and then dipped each one's beak into the water, teaching them how to drink. Once that was mastered, we dipped the beaks into the food. I don't know what I expected, but this was much easier than I thought it would be.
Someone thinks she is the chicken mama!

What beautiful colours they are! Did they come by parcel in the post??! I have never heard of that before, but then again, I live in Australia lol.
Excuse my igorance, but what is 'pasting up'? I have never had chicks before, much less chickens ;)
Have fun with your new 'babies'!
Hi Amanda! Yes, they did come by parcel post. They were shipped the day they hatched and arrived by the following midday. They even rode two airplanes to get here.
Pasting up is when a young chicks feces stick to it's backside. It can glue them together, and can be fatal. If it happens, you must remove it. Thankfully, no pasting here!
