Pie Supper

When mama has spent hours in the kitchen making from-scratch pies, amongst other goodies, gets 3 hours sleep, and then spends 8 hours at the farmers' market she just might be tired.

When a few pies don't get sold, mama might have just enough energy to think of a pie supper. A quick trip to the grocery for some Cool Whip doesn't take too long.

Pumpkins and apples are, after all, good for you, aren't they?

Daddy made himself and mama a quick grilled cheese, but the children liked mama's idea better. Pumpkin for the main meal, and apple for dessert.

I would go for that! My kids were amazed and happy when we once had a "cake Breakfast".

Did you know -- according to BJU's history (3rd grade, I believe) -- apple pies were originally made for suppers. In fact, they threw in all the apple - core, peel, seeds ... the works you might say. The book displays a photo of a letter written by a traveler that encountered this new cuisine ... and ... I think he was traveling through Pennsylvania. I'll have to look that one up for you. Pie for supper ... it's in your genes! ;o)

((Hope you have a very restful Sunday.))

My mom does that! Or makes apple pie for breakfast. Mmm, they both sound really good right now. Really good!
